  • "Democracy is assured by the Constitution of India."

Is that only for the name's sake or to be followed? Can democracy turn into Monarchy according to the situation?

Issue: The dropping/suspension of Question Hour in the Parliament.

Due to the pandemic situation world-wide and in the nation, Question Hour dropped in the LS schedule of the monsoon session. But this is going against the grain of democracy. Question hour marks as an essential part as Members of Parliament have the right to question the concerned Ministers and can seek oral or written answers based on the type of question.

This led the people to feel the government as an autocratic rule. "Is there no 'pandemic' while laying the foundation for the Ayodha temple?" questioned to The Hindu by an Indian citizen.

What are your views on the suspension of Question Hour in Parliament?

  • "The lengthiest Elephantine Constitution" is the Constitution of India. We all are aware of this, right?

Our constitution forefathers have framed it perfectly. But criticism is everywhere.
    CRITICISM OF INDIAN CONSTITUTION:

    1. A Borrowed Constitution
    2. A carbon copy of the 1935 Act
    3. Un-Indian or Anti-Indian
    4. An Un-Gandhian Constitution
    5. Elephantine size
    6. Paradise of the Lawyers

Critics felt the above points as the drawbacks of our constitution. But Dr. B.R. Ambedkar sir, positively explained every issue.

    #learning #upsc #critics

So UPSC aspirants(even me), if you have any queries, text in the comments section.

  • Three-tier Government
In the beginning the Indian Constitution also had dual polity and contained provisions
with regard to the organisation and powers of the Centre and the states just like other federal constitutions.
But Later, the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendment Acts
(1992) have added a third-tier of Government (i.e., local) which
is not found in any other Constitution of the world.
-> The 73rd Amendment Act of 1992 gave constitutional
recognition to the panchayats (rural local governments) by
adding a new Part IX17 and a new Schedule 11 to the
    Constitution.
->Similarly, the 74th Amendment Act of 1992 gave constitutional
recognition to the municipalities (urban local governments) by
adding a new Part IX-A18 and a new Schedule 12 to the
    Constitution.

The desire to "de-enclave" most of the enclaves was manifested in a 1958 agreement between Jawaharlal Nehru and Feroz Khan Noon, the then Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan, for an exchange between India and Pakistan without considering loss or gain of territory.

After that agreement, Berubari case came into live. This case is one of the most inmportant cases every civils aspirant must be good at.
